A 5-String Violin by Kelly Sivy

Ms. Sivy is dedicated to crafting heirloom-quality violins that bring excellence, ease and joy to each players’ musicianship. Ms. Sivy’s interest in violin making started soon after she began learning to play. She studied intensively for 4 years under violin-maker Joe Thrift in North Carolina, during which she received several grants from the North Carolina Arts Council to fund her work Ms. Sivy’s log cabin workshop now sits just outside Fairbanks, Alaska, nestled among spruce-covered hills that overlook a seasonally alternating view of midnight sun and northern lights. Here, she uses hand tools and her knowledge of classical Cremonese methods to create fine violins, suited for passionate players seeking an instrument filled with potential to accompany them alongside their artistic journey.
