About the Maker

1798-1870 Mirecourt, Paris, and Bougival, France. “Bernadel Père” is one of the most important and influential French makers along with his contemporary J.B. Vuillaume and his teacher N. Lupot. He was a pioneer of ‘antiqued’ copies of individual classical instruments, and his materials are always of extraordinarily high quality. He ran his own shop and was joined in the 1840s by his sons Ernest and Gustave and the firm became known as Bernardel et Fils.

This beautiful violin has a beautiful and soloistic sound: it’s rich, warm, and exceptionally even and responsive across the strings. DÉLICIEUX!
