About the Maker
Born in 1883 in Mirecourt, France, René Aerts apprenticed in Mirecourt before working in Germany and England. In 1921, he established his own workshop in Brussels and succeeded Hilaire Darche as the luthier for the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles. Aerts emigrated to Los Angeles in 1932, and before his death in 1942 produced many fine instruments including a set of instruments for the Pro Arte Quartet.
The violin by René Aerts here at Denver Violins is a fine example of his work with easy responsiveness, and a beautiful warmth and richness.
