Giorgio Scolari (b. 1952) is a contemporary master luthier and a central figure in the modern Cremonese school. As both a prolific maker and a long-time educator, he has played a vital role in preserving and teaching the traditional Italian methods to new generations of violin makers at the International School of Violin-Making in Cremona.
Unique among many luthiers, Giorgio is also a trained musician. He studied organ, piano, and composition, and he remains active as a director for various choral groups in the Cremona region. This deep musical understanding informs the tonal quality and response of his instruments.
