Nicolas Augustin Chappuy (c. 1730-1784) was a prolific French luthier born in Mirecourt, who was active in Paris from about 1750 before returning to his hometown. Known for producing a high volume of instruments, his work ranges widely in quality, exhibiting characteristics of both the Mirecourt and "Vieux Paris" schools. His violins are generally large with a flat arching, and are often branded "N. Chappuy à Paris."
