Werner August Theodor Voigt (b. 1911) was a highly respected German master luthier. After studying under H. Reichel and working in Stuttgart, he became the director of the long-established M.G. Voigt firm in Markneukirchen. While also making violins, his violas are praised for their craftsmanship and tonal qualities. Voigt's violas, such as his 1971 model made for William Moennig & Son, are characterized by well-flamed maple and a broad, powerful sound, adhering to the German tradition.
