About the Maker

Born in 1874 in Bouzemont, Albert Deblaye trained in Mirecourt and Paris before joining Pierre Gauthié’s workshop in Toulouse. In 1900, he returned to Mirecourt and opened a workship with H. Meunier where Deblaye oversaw all instrument making. Paul Didier joined the partnership in 1922. Deblaye worked mainly in the style of Vuillaume, and Lupot, and also made copies of instruments by Stradivari and other Cremonese makers. Deblaye died in 1929.
